Séb Farges for Dances Made

Sébastien Farges and Violeta Rodriguez are collaborating on a film for Edition 25 of Dances Made. Their film will be inspired by the themes chosen by our audience: street art, remake and vivid/paleGet your tickets for the exclusive digital premiere on June 26.

Why are you interested in making dance film?

Dance gives emotion to my work.

What was your initial reaction to the themes chosen by our audience (street art, remake and vivid/pale)?

I like the artistic challenge.

Tell us a little about your creative process…

My work is more grows in the emergency, to let it be more natural and intuitive.

Name a film that changed your life:

It’s funny but it’s Pulsion from Brian De Palma. I saw it when I was teenager. I was already a fan of Hitchcock´s movies and I was really impressed by the direction.

Name a dance performance that changed your life:

I’m not so familiar with dance, but your question reminds me of the small, poetic and funny dance movement of the waiter in the film After Hours directed by Scorcese.

If we were going to spend the day with you hanging out with you, what would we do?

We will go to Big Sur and go down the cliff to the beach.

What is your favorite drink and where do you get it?

You know I live in Bordeaux, so here we have red wine on tap in our kitchen ;). I also like fresh lemonade. I’m live in the old center (of Bordeaux) and my favorite bar Chez Fred is just down the street from my apartment.

If you could live in another time period, which would it be?

End of the 70′s beg of the 80′s and going to Joy Division live, and also filming in digital in NYC during the punk era.

What are some things you can’t live without?

Regrettably: cigarettes. Hopefully: love.
