Paula Present is the Artistic Director and choreographer of PTERO Dance Theatre (www.pterodance.org) The company received grants from The City of Culver City, four times from the Puffin Foundation and twice from the Durfee Foundation’s ARC grant. PTERO has garnered two Lester Horton awards and numerous nominations in “Outstanding Performance” and “Outstanding Choreography”. Present has performed and shown her work numerous LA venues as well as Tijuana, Mexicali, San Diego, Palm Desert, New Mexico, and San Francisco. She has choreographed 5 full evening dance works with the company, and several commissions. For TV, she choreographed for Season 8 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Music videos for the band Fanfarlo (Harold T Wilkins), and for the band Beirut(Elephant Gun). Film, Bombay Beach, winner of “Best Documentary” at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, having a NY and LA theatrical release in October. And recently, a commission for the runway, for the clothing line, Gypsy 05. For Theater, she choreographed for Culture Clash productions Bordertown and Anthology, as well as Herbert Siguenza’s 2010 A Weekend with Pablo Picasso. She recently had the honor of performing and choreographing her own solo in Los Doppelgangers, a collaboration between Richard Montoya and Guillermo Gomez Pena.
